Our London Trip

Today I wanted to talk about our recent trip to London and share some of the photos I took while we were there.

The reason we went to London was to celebrate my boyfriends birthday, we had planned it about a month in advance and had decided to drive down and see the museums and explore the city. Ben has been once before and I had never been so I was beyond excited.

We were only there for 2 full days and 3 nights, so it was kind of a whirlwind trip, which is something Ben and I are getting really good at.

So prior to travelling I had asked Ben is we could take a detour and stop at Bicester Village , which is a designer outlet in Oxford. We had a really steady stroll around, looking in all the shops, falling in love with Mulberry Handbags and eyeing up all the beautiful things on offer. Ben expressed and interest in getting a new watch, so after looking at several brands and designs, we came away with a brand new Fossil watch for him, they had to remove several links to get it to fit Ben’s teeny wrists (Fun Fact – it also fits me perfectly)

A couple hours later we checked into our hotel, and due to a leak in the ceiling of our original room, we were upgraded to a Junior Suite. We dropped our bags and went across the road for a cheeky Burger King, then had a pint in the hotel bar, before calling it a night and crawling into bed.

The next day, we were pointed in the direction of a local shop where we could purchase an Oyster Card, and after a fifteen minute walk, and a quick tube ride we were in London Centre and right outside the National History Museum.

After the National History Museum, we found a Starbucks, walked to Harrods and then continued waking to Buckingham Palace.

From Buckingham Palace, we walked to Leicester Square, stopped for a quick snack, then explored M&M World and the Lego Store, we then moved on and went to Soho because I was desperate to get Ben a birthday cupcake from Crumbs and Doilies, we got a drink from a little Irish pub on Ganton Steet, and whilst enjoying our drinks we got to talking about Ben getting a birthday cigar. So we googled placed nearby and then set off walking to the store we had chosen, before grabbing dinner and then returning to the hotel.

Its worth noting at this point that the shoes I had packed, were NOT suitable for long distance walking, and by the time I got back to the hotel I was in complete agony and had the worst blister on my little toe, but I had the foresight to go into Boots and grab some blister plasters on the way back to the hotel.

On the second and last day in London we got up and got the tube into the centre and went to Madame Tussauds (which was awesome, if a little over priced)

From there we walked through Regent Park and up to Camden Market where we had a steady stroll and grabbed some food from the Food Market, which was incredible. The food, the variety, the vibrancy, everything was just incredible.

After Camden, we got the tube back into the centre and visited the British Museum, but after about 45 minutes of walking around I was like DONE, my feet were killing me and I was so so tired.

We decided the museum needed a full day to walk around and see everything and we left to go to a local pub and get a drink because it was about 4pm and we hadn’t drank anything all day.

We walked back into the city and back to the shop where we had bought Bens cigars from the day before, and got a couple more to bring home with us.

We walked to Liberty’s, because it wouldn’t have been a trip to London without it. As night started to fall we stopped for dinner, bought me a novelty hoodie, and made our way back to the hotel.

The next morning, we got breakfast in bed, packed all our stuff and headed on our way home.

I have to say that I 100% fell in love with London, the city, the architecture, the cars, everything. I left a piece of my heart in the city when we left, and we are already planning to go back in the summer for my birthday. It is the most beautiful city, although the food is over priced and a bit naff, to be honest I enjoyed the Frankie and Bennys we had at home in Yorkshire more than the food we ate in London.

So thats it, a round up of our amazing whirlwind trip to London.

Whats your favourite city to visit? I would love to know.

Talk to you soon!
